The purpose of melt blown fabric
Melt blown fabric has excellent filtration, shielding, thermal insulation, and oil absorption and solubility. In addition to being the core material of masks, melt blown fabric has many other uses.
1. Air purification
Filtration is a complete process of separation, and its porous structure and small circular pores determine its good solid barrier properties, that is, good filtration characteristics; If there is still polar treatment to increase electrostatic performance, it can also improve the actual filtering effect. The characteristics of melt blown cloth are used in indoor air conditioning filtration systems, filter materials, dust collector filter bags, etc. The melt blown composite material, which has undergone electrostatic polarization treatment, has the characteristics of low initial resistance, large dust capacity, and high filtration efficiency when used for air filtration. At a flow rate of 32L/min, the filtration efficiency for 0.3um particles can reach 99.9%, with a resistance of only 117.7Pa (12mm water column). It is widely used for air purification treatment in electronic manufacturing, food, beverage, chemical, airport, hotel and other places.
2. Oil absorbing wiping cloth
Melt blown fabric is a pure natural oil absorbing raw material, and its key raw material is PP. PP is almost non hygroscopic but has very good oil absorption solubility. Melt blown fabric has the characteristics of high porosity and high stacking density. After being hydrophilic, melt blown non-woven fabric becomes an oil absorbing wiping cloth. Can be used for cleaning and wiping precision instruments and equipment. In order to prevent fiber detachment during use and affect usage, low-temperature hot rolling process is often used to increase the surface strength of melt blown fabric.
3. Oil absorbing cotton
Melt blown fabric has excellent oil removal properties, and its strong suction effect can be used to remove dirty oil, such as oil spills on water, oil leakage from processing plant machinery and equipment, and wastewater treatment. Due to its excellent hydrophobicity and lipophilicity, low density (0.91g/cm '), low water absorption (0.01%), and a moisture regain of 0.05%, PP fiber has stable chemical properties such as being insoluble in oil and resistant to acid and alkali, making it an excellent oil absorbing material. The oil absorption of melt blown nonwoven fabric produced from PP raw materials is 15-17 times its own weight (Table 1-11), and the water absorption is 0.07-1 times its own weight. It is currently the most commonly used oil absorbing material due to its fast oil absorption speed, ability to float on the water surface for a long time after oil absorption, and reusability.
4. Thermal insulation materials
The average diameter of ultrafine fibers in melt blown fabric is between 0.5 and 5 meters, with a high packing density, resulting in a lot of ultra-fine particle porosity in the fabric, and a high porosity. Its air thermal conductivity is much smaller than that of ordinary fibers (Table 1-10). This type of structure stores a lot of gas, which can effectively prevent heat loss and has good insulation properties. It is widely used in the production and manufacturing of clothing and various insulation materials. Such as leather jackets, ski jackets, winter clothes, cotton fabrics, etc., have advantages such as lightweight, cold and warm protection, moisture resistance, good breathability, and no mold.
Polypropylene (PP) fiber is the variety with the smallest thermal conductivity among existing fiber materials. After special treatment (such as adding 35% high special (coarse denier) PET three-dimensional curled fiber), the melt blown thermal insulation floc made of PP fiber has a thermal insulation performance 1.5 times that of down and 15 times that of ordinary thermal insulation cotton. Especially suitable for making skiing clothes, mountaineering clothes, bedding, sleeping bags, thermal underwear, gloves, shoes, etc. Products with a quantitative range of 65-200g/m have been used to make warm clothing for soldiers in cold regions.
5. Materials for liquid filtration
Melt blown nonwoven fabrics can also be used as liquid filtration materials, capable of filtering particles with a particle size of 0.22-10pm. Such as bacteria, blood, and macromolecules. Mainly used in the filtration of photosensitive and corrosion-resistant agents in the electronic industry, pharmaceutical, biological, and synthetic plasma products, beverage, beer, and syrup filtration in the food industry, precision filtration of electroplating solution, water purification filtration in water plants, tap water purification filtration, filtration equipment for hydrogen production through electrolysis of water, and environmental wastewater filtration. PP melt blown nonwoven fabric with hydrophilic properties can be used to make battery separators for mobile phones.
6. Medical
The dust-proof mouth made of melt blown fabric has low respiratory resistance, is not stuffy, and a dust-proof efficiency of up to 99%. It has good breathability, no toxic side effects, and is easy to use. SMS products compounded with spunbond fabric are widely used in surgical clothing, protective clothing, disinfectant cloth, masks, diapers, women's sanitary pads, etc.
