Analysis of differences between meltblown fabric and non-woven fabric
The epidemic in the spring of 2020 has made protective equipment and other supplies in high demand, especially disposable masks, which have risen from a few cents each to a sky high price of tens of yuan. So, it should be easy to produce a small and medium-sized mask. Why is it so scarce? In fact, masks are made of basic non-woven fabric, but there is a layer of meltblown fabric that is the core material of masks. This article focuses on introducing the differences between non-woven fabric and meltblown fabric.
Melt blown fabric is mainly made of polypropylene as the main raw material, and the fiber diameter can reach 1-5 microns. The ultra-fine fibers with unique capillary structures, such as multiple voids, fluffy structure, and good wrinkle resistance, increase the number and surface area of fibers per unit area, thus making the melt blown fabric have good filtration, shielding, insulation, and oil absorption properties. Can be used in fields such as air and liquid filtration materials, isolation materials, absorbent materials, mask materials, insulation materials, oil absorbing materials, and wiping cloths.
Application scope:
(1) Medical and health fabrics: surgical gowns, isolation gowns, disinfectant bags, masks, diapers, women's sanitary pads, etc;
(2) Home decoration fabrics: wall coverings, tablecloths, bed sheets, bed covers, etc;
(3) Clothing for follow-up: lining, adhesive lining, flocs, set cotton, various synthetic leather base fabrics, etc;
(4) Industrial fabrics: filter materials, insulation materials, cement packaging bags, geotextiles, wrapping fabrics, etc;
(5) Agricultural fabrics: crop protection fabrics, seedling cultivation fabrics, irrigation fabrics, insulation curtains, etc;
(6) Other: space cotton, insulation and soundproofing materials, oil absorbent felt, smoke filter nozzle, tea bag, etc.
Melt blown cloth filter material is made of polypropylene ultrafine fibers randomly distributed and adhered together, with a clean, smooth, and soft appearance, and a fiber fineness of 0.5-1.0 μ m. The random distribution of fibers provides more opportunities for thermal bonding between fibers, resulting in a larger specific surface area and higher porosity (≥ 75%) for melt blown gas filtration materials. After high pressure polar filtration efficiency, the product has the characteristics of low resistance, high efficiency, and high dust tolerance.
Non woven fabric, also known as non-woven fabric, is composed of oriented or random fibers. It is called cloth due to its appearance and certain properties.
Non woven fabrics have the characteristics of moisture resistance, breathability, flexibility, lightweight, non combustible, easy decomposition, non-toxic and non irritating, rich colors, low price, and recyclability. If polypropylene (PP material) pellets are commonly used as raw materials, they are produced through a one-step process of high-temperature melting, spinning, laying, and hot pressing and coiling.
