The production process of filter paper

Filter paper is a special purpose paper commonly used for separating solids and liquids in mixtures, or for filtering in other processes. The production process of filter paper mainly includes pulp preparation, paper forming, washing and processing, and cutting and packaging.

1, Pulp preparation

The primary step in preparing filter paper is to prepare pulp. Pulp is a paste like substance made by mixing cellulose and water, usually made from wood, flax, herbs, or other cellulose raw materials. In the process of pulp preparation, the size, moisture content, and composition ratio of the raw materials are all very important. These factors can be processed mechanically or chemically to achieve the desired characteristics.

Mechanical processing involves beating the raw materials into pulp, decomposing wood and other raw materials into cellulose. Different raw materials need to be mixed together in different proportions to obtain the required cellulose content, fiber length, and viscosity. Next, the pulp mixture needs to be filtered, stirred, and bleached. These steps contribute to the separation and purification of cellulose, as well as achieving the required color and quality standards.

2, Paper forming

The next step is to convert the pulp into filter paper. This step requires the use of some special manufacturing equipment, such as long mesh paper mills and circular mesh paper mills. These machines are usually composed of filters and rolling and pressing machines. When the paste slurry passes through the filter, cellulose fibers form a uniform, tight, and stable layer on the filter, ultimately forming paper.

In the process of manufacturing filter paper, chemical additives are also needed. These chemicals help improve the strength of filter paper, increase its water absorption, improve its oil absorption performance, and enhance its waterproof performance. Chemical additives can be controlled in the pulp as needed, and other compounds can be added through beating or impregnation to change the color or texture of the paper.

3, Washing and processing

After the paper is formed, the filter paper also needs to be washed and processed to obtain the required performance. The washing step can use water or other detergents to clean the paper from residual chemical additives. This can improve the purity of filter paper and reduce the impact of harmful chemicals remaining on the paper on human health.

The processing steps can include coating or surface treatment and other processing methods. For example, chemical or physical methods can be used to enhance the waterproof and oil resistant properties of filter paper, or to enhance the adsorption performance of filter paper to ensure that it can be used under various environmental conditions.

4, Cutting packaging

The final step is to cut the filter paper into the desired size and shape, and package it for transportation and sales. During the cutting and packaging process, special tools and equipment such as paper cutting machines and automatic packaging machines are also required.
